Middle Point is proudly collaborating closely with one of our international clients in Germany to recruit for a techno-commercial Sales and Business Development Manager (Projects) to focus on their existing and new clients in the German local market.

As Sales and Business Development Manager, it is mandatory that you have substantial project sales experience and solid network in the maritime industry, ideally within the local shipping cluster dealing mainly with shipyards and ship owners.

Reporting to the General Manager-Sales, your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Focus on assigned client accounts (existing and new) on new build projects for the entire marine portfolio
  • Increase market share on assigned accounts and maximise order intake at German yards and owners
  • Promote product portfolio capabilities and technical solutions to local designers, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Represent the company in local associations on request
  • CRM Management - Maintaining customer visits, leads and sales planning
  • Support other portfolio managers in developing footprint at German customers
  • Support business development activities on request (e.g. market screenings, M&A, integration streams)
  • Manage, participate and lead negotiations according to internal agreements
  • Provide market information both on market developments and competitor activities.

Functie eisen

In order to be successful for the role, you must have / be:

  • Native German speaker with very good English communication skills
  • Proven direct sales background and network within the shipping industry (customer base includes shipyards, ship owners, designers, and other stakeholders such as banks, government entities, etc.)
  • Technical Degree - Mechanical, Naval Architecture or Electrical Engineering background
  • Experienced in dealing with the whole sales cycle of a project - negotiate contracts, technical specifications , price negotiations, account management
  • Someone who understands what drives the project, what impacts the financing and what impacts the shipyard selection and the after sales process.
  • Able to work in an international business environment and virtual team
  • Willing to travel intensively domestically to meet customers
  • Great negotiator and relationship builder
