As a  Principal Instrumentation Engineer - FPSO, your responsible to:

  • Ensure valve selection considers cost, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Specify and select valves such as ball, gate, globe, check, and emergency shutdown valves based on process requirements and technical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, classification requirements, and standards like API 6A, API 6D, API 609, API 607, NORSOK M-710, ISO 23936, and ASME.
  • Prepare and review technical datasheets, material selection, and pressure-temperature ratings while analyzing Rapid Gas Decompression (RGD) effects in valves and elastomers.
  • Assist in designing and modifying valve products in collaboration with technical authorities.
  • Perform calculations for flow rates, pressure drops, and material compatibility.
  • Work with instrumentation, process, mechanical, and piping teams to ensure proper valve integration into systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, including SIL requirements, and understand IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 standards.
  • Handle tasks related to performance standards for valves and instrumentation.
  • Support HAZOP and risk assessment studies to enhance valve performance and reliability.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and technological advancements.
  • Supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and hydrostatic testing.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance (QA/QC) processes and troubleshoot valve failures, recommending corrective actions such as Partial Stroke and Staggered Blowdown Tests.
  • Assist the supply chain in valve selection and procurement strategy while qualifying new valve vendors.
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers to assess technical proposals and ensure product quality.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical drawings, and test reports for compliance.
  • Provide technical support for valve maintenance, repair, and refurbishment in Brownfield projects.
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans, conduct failure analysis, and implement reliability improvements for critical valve applications.
  • Mentor and guide junior valve engineers across multiple locations.
  • Contribute to engineering and technical standards for valve selection, design, and evaluation.

Functie eisen

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in Instrumentation Valve Engineering within upstream Oil & Gas.
  • In-depth knowledge of API 6A, API 6D, and ISO actuator standards.
  • Expertise in pressure relief devices, adhering to API and ASME BPVC.
  • Strong foundation in control valve systems, with expertise in ISO and IEC standards.
  • Proficient in control valve calculations, preferably using CONVAL.
  • Advanced skills in SmartPlant Instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of Aveva Engineering is a plus.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and creative problem solver.
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in MS Office and willing to travel as needed.
  • A collaborative team player and safety-conscious professional.
