An experienced Department Manager for Coating is required by our client in the offshore construction industry. Based in the Rotterdam area, this role is crucial in overseeing all coating-related activities within the Pipeline Production Department. You will be at the forefront of ensuring that coating processes meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in line with client specifications.

Tasks

  • Manage and assign Coating Engineers to projects and tenders, ensuring effective personnel planning.
  • Approve and oversee coating methods, equipment, and consumables for timely project execution.
  • Plan and manage the timing and duration of coating activities at the onshore Training Centre (TRC).
  • Monitor daily progress of production activities on vessels or work sites.
  • Provide technical input to the Proposals Department during the tendering process.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define strategies and ensure comprehensive project preparation.
  • Identify and implement improvements in coating processes, techniques, and equipment.

Job requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the welding, coating industry, or non-destructive testing, preferably in an offshore environment.
  • At least three years of managerial experience, overseeing teams and projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of S-lay pipeline installation and pipeline production methods.
  • Strong understanding of project execution, proposals, and subcontract management.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
