Join our client, a leading name in the naval industry, and take on an essential role in our cutting-edge shipbuilding initiatives. We are currently looking for a well-experienced Technical Subcontract Manager with specialized knowledge in outfitting systems to supervise and synchronize technical operations within our latest ship designs. 

As the Technical Subcontract Manager for Outfitting, you will be at the forefront of directing and harmonizing technical tasks associated with outfitting systems, spanning from procurement and engineering to the installation process within our novel ship designs. Your duties will encompass ensuring the desired standard of quality and punctual completion of subcontracted work packages throughout the implementation of large-scale ventures.

This is a project-based position with an initial period of 18 months however, with very high probability of extension.

Tasks

As a Technical Subcontract Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Overseeing suppliers and subcontractors involved in outfitting, encompassing areas such as accommodation, lining, ceiling, deck covering, insulation, furniture, doors, and hatches.
  • Participating in contractual milestones, tests, and trials (FAT, HAT, and SAT) as a participating entity.
  • Supporting the Outfitting engineering team by consistently delivering top-notch engineering products within designated timeframes.
  • Assisting the warranty authority in addressing any identified warranty issues.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the contributions of subcontractors and suppliers during the preparation and execution phases of the project(s).
  • Taking full ownership of assigned projects to drive specific outcomes concerning schedule adherence and quality standards.
  • Ensuring comprehensive adherence to all relevant requirements and specifications, both internally within the company and those outlined by the customer.
  • Arranging and participating in project reviews.
  • Ensuring the execution and coordination of project activities pertaining to all subcontractor commitments and deliverables.

Job requirements

To be successful as a Technical Subcontract Manager, you should demonstrate the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Competencies: customer focus, commitment to results and quality, teamwork, adaptability, leadership, coaching, planning and organization, management oversight, decisiveness, effective oral communication, and proactive initiative.
  • Strong proficiency in both written and verbal English; familiarity with the German language is a significant advantage.
  • Extensive engineering background and comprehensive knowledge of outfitting systems, preferably acquired through work in ship or offshore installations.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of practical experience working with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers in the shipbuilding or related sectors.
  • Possession of permanent EU citizenship along with an EU work visa, as both are mandatory for our employees due to the nature of our military projects.
  • Strong references and a clean record, as a pre-employment security screening is a standard part of the hiring process.
  • Proficiency in engineering principles and a history of working on large projects involving Class-regulated products.
  • Project management capabilities and firsthand experience in overseeing the production and subcontract management of intricate systems.
