As a rules and regulations specialist, you will serve as a critical link between engineering and maritime regulations, ensuring compliance with ship specifications and industry norms. 

Tasks

Your expertise will ensure company's statutory plans comply with ship specifications, industry norms, and regulatory requirements, satisfying all stakeholders. You will collaborate with various technical teams and external entities such as classification societies and customers to deliver the best technical solutions.

As a Class & Rules Coordinator, you will join a basic engineering team, working alongside plan and arrangement engineers to develop statutory plans and secure class and client approval. During the detailed engineering phase, you will help interpret and translate norms, rules, and regulations into customized and effective engineering solutions.

  • Conducting thorough research and analysis of maritime norms, rules, regulations, and customer requirements related to Plans and Arrangements (P&A) deliverables within the structural department. 
  • Drafting tailored regulatory frameworks specific to each project.
  • Ensuring that all engineering teams have access to and understand the relevant norms and regulations.
  • Creating a design basis for the Engineering Department.
  • Proposing well-supported alternative solutions when deviations from regulations are necessary.
  • Assisting project engineers in implementing norms and regulations into their technical designs.
  • Staying adaptable to changes and continuously updating knowledge on the latest industry developments.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding, Architecture, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive experience with and broad knowledge of Class- and Statutory regulations, preferably related to ships or offshore installations.
  • Passion for research and a commitment to sharing your knowledge with others.
  • Proficiency with 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems such as MicroStation, Cadmatic, and/or 3DExperience (Catia).
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a permanent EU citizen.
