Are you an experienced Structural Engineer with a passion for luxury yacht projects? Join our client’s Engineering team where you will be at the heart of the shipbuilding process.

We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer specialized in Detailed Engineering for hull structures within the high-end superyacht industry. You will join an experienced engineering team and work closely with production, design, and classification societies to deliver exceptional vessels in the 60m+ range.

This role focuses on translating basic structural design into fully detailed production documentation for steel and aluminium hulls, ensuring that all drawings and specifications meet the shipyard’s and class requirements.

Tasks

  • Prepare detailed structural drawings and 3D models of hull structures using CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, Cadmatic Hull, NUPAS-CADMATIC, Aveva, or similar).
  • Develop production-ready documentation: plates, profiles, nesting, welding plans, assemblies plans etc.
  • Interpret and translate class rules and basic design input into executable documentation.
  • Perform checks and calculations for constructability, weight distribution, structural integrity and material efficiency.
  • Resolve technical issues in collaboration with production and other disciplines (outfitting, piping, interiors).
  • Coordinate and align with external suppliers and subcontractors involved in steel and aluminium hull fabrication.
  • Participate in design reviews and implement feedback to improve accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and class regulations (Lloyd’s Register, ABS, DNV).
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers, production teams, and project leads to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
  • Evaluating the output of outsourced engineering work

Job requirements

  • EU citizenship is required for this position
  • BSc / MCs degree in naval architecture, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in detailed structural engineering preferably in yachts or passenger vessels
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools for  marine structures (Simens NX, Cadmatic, Aveva, ShipConstructor, Rhino + Orca3D, AuroCAD etc).
  • Solid understanding of hull structure method, welding techniques and modular/block building
  • Knowledge of ship classification rules and their practical application.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong technical drawing skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with composite structures and lightweight engineering would be an advantage

Conditions

  • Competitive salary ranging from €3,300 to €5,200 gross per month, depending on experience and role
  • 30% tax ruling for the first five years (for positions in the Netherlands)
  • At least 25 days of paid holidays + ADV days
  • Compensation for commuting costs depending on your preferred means of transportation - own car / public transport / bike
  • Assistance with your relocation, i.e. registration, legal and fiscal matters, and housing advice 
  • Language course compensation up to €500 so that you have a good kickstart
