Tasks

As a Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on large projects to create a flawless end result - a globally recognizable yacht building brand.

You will maintain constant communication within the project team to coordinate and discuss designs, reporting to both a (Senior) Project Engineer and the Team Leader in the structural team. Your primary responsibilities include engineering shipbuilding structures and arrangements through calculations and 3D modeling, meeting the standards of classification societies and flag states. You will tackle technical challenges inspired by customer desires, focusing on design, style, comfort, and innovation, while integrating aspects of interior, exterior, and mechanical design. Success in this role requires balancing detail with the overall vision and ensuring the feasibility of engineering solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing and interpreting drawings
  • Preparing, checking, and applying physical models regarding construction, loads, and materials
  • Checking for technical correctness and safety
  • Advising on constructions
  • Assisting with strength calculations that are not done by the FEM department

Job requirements

As a Structural Engineer, what does our client expect from you?

  • Must have experience as a Structural Engineer in new construction projects of superyachts and/or passenger ships 
  • Excellent command of English, preferably Dutch as well
  • Knowledge in the field of ship construction, LR, REG LY code, SOLAS, and FEM and vibration analyses (on-the-job training is available)
  • Creativity and solution-oriented thinking
  • Experience with modern 3D CAD and PLM systems (NX is a plus, training is offered internally)
  • A completed relevant education (shipbuilding) at HBO level
  • A high degree of proactivity and collaboration orientation
  • Good written and oral communication skills
