Senior Structural Analyst - Naval Shipbuilding

The role will either be based in Vlissingen or Schiedam. 

Tasks

As Senior Structural Analyst at Damen Naval, you will contribute to basic and detailed engineering, developing structural designs and calculations from proposal to vessel delivery. Your role covers strength, stiffness, vibrations, producibility, and maintainability, ensuring compliance with standards and client needs. You may also support R&D and process improvements in structural analysis.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing design checks and reviews while supporting outsourced engineering packages.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and owners to integrate components into ship designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Delivering high-quality engineering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Developing and improving standards, methodologies, and processes.
  • Conducting technical evaluations of vendor and subcontractor quotations and integrating their information into designs.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in ship structures within the shipbuilding or offshore industries
  • Familiarity with ship class calculations and tools such as DNV-GL Nauticus Hull, LR-SSC, or BV MARS2000
  • Proficiency in FEM modeling and analysis software like ANSYS, NX, or FEMAP, and CAD systems such as NUPAS (3D), 3DX, or Catia
  • Creative problem-solving skills, accuracy, decisiveness, efficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Excellent references, with security screening as part of the hiring process
