(Senior) Mechanical Engineer Defence

Marine Systems & Piping, HVAC

Mechanical Engineers across all levels of seniority with experience working on the development in integration of marine systems such as; propulsion, auxiliary, HVAC, piping systems, water, fuel etc. are needed for our client in the naval industry.

Due to the nature of the projects, only EU citizens can be considered for these roles.

Tasks

  • Collaborate in the project proposal phase by defining and selecting feasible marine system configurations.
  • Draft (functional) technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based on design and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of supplier quotations with the purchasing team.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements during supplier discussions and manage quality, cost, and schedule constraints.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, such as mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams to optimize system integration.
  • Compose technical documentation, including System Description Statements and test procedures.
  • Assess technical performance via simulations, equipment inspections, and factory acceptance tests.
  • Provide technical support during ship trials, harbor acceptance tests (HAT), and sea acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maritime industry or mechanical system design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Cadmatic or SolidWorks and CATIA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work. 
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects involving suppliers and regulatory bodies.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Must be a permanent EU citizen.
