We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team involved in the design, engineering, and construction of custom superyachts. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide critical technical input throughout the lifecycle of the yacht, from concept through to completion, ensuring a high level of engineering excellence and a smooth integration of all mechanical systems.

Tasks

  • Contribute to the mechanical engineering systems of superyachts, ensuring alignment with design specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
  • Draft technical specifications and implement mechanical systems.
  • Lead a team of engineers through detail engineering, 3D modeling, and datasheet creation.
  • Oversee sub-projects to integrate mechanical systems into the overall yacht structure.
  • Collaborate with disciplines like interior, construction, exterior, and special engineering to advise on mechanical aspects, ensuring all systems are cost-effective and efficient.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks and provide solutions.
  • Offer technical advice to ensure manufacturability, feasibility, and timely project delivery.
  • Work with purchasing teams to procure and implement mechanical systems, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective materials.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (Lloyd’s, SOLAS, Large Yacht Code) and maintain internal technical standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by exploring new technical developments or efficient construction methods.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to enhance team capabilities and foster innovation.

Job requirements

  • Several years of experience in yacht or shipbuilding, with expertise in mechanical engineering systems and the construction process.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Shipbuilding, with at least an HBO work/thinking level.
  • Strong knowledge of yacht systems, mechanical engineering, and production techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as Lloyd’s, SOLAS, and Large Yacht Code. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, Team Centre) and engineering routines.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills. Dutch is a big plus.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams and provide clear technical advice. A passion for high-quality, customized yacht construction, with attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
