Functional Application Specialist

As a Functional Application Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in optimizing and maintaining advanced PLM environments (including 3DX), driving digital transformation within a heavy engineering context. Tasks

In this role, you will serve as the technical bridge between engineering and IT, focusing on advanced CAD and PLM applications:

  • Improve and enhance engineering applications to boost overall system performance and efficiency.

  • Resolve technical issues by identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.

  • Design specifications for new and existing application modules aligned with business needs.

  • Test and validate application updates and new functionalities before deployment.

  • Maintain the PLM library and ensure all configurations support engineering workflows.

  • Configure application environments (3DX, CAD, PDM) including modules, parameters, and attributes.

  • Translate technical schematics into operational system setups to support engineers.

  • Liaise with IT departments, engineering teams, and software suppliers to implement improvements.

  • Participate in strategic development of application roadmaps tailored to naval vessels and defense-grade environments.


 

Job requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working in a similar position, where you have performed the key tasks. 
  • Experience in application maintenance, preferably within a technical, complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) – Managing applications related to product development, engineering data, and project workflows.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level in IT or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience with a broad understanding of multiple systems (CAD, PDM, ERP) is preferred. 
  • Good command of the Dutch & English language (written & verbal).
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates who only have an NL/EU work visa or who hold both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible, in accordance with the security requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects. Please note that if you do not meet this requirement, we cannot proceed with your application.
