Our client, involved in one of the largest ship projects in Germany, is looking for a skilled Commissioning & Testing Engineer to be based in Wismar. This position, initially set to last until June 2025, comes with the possibility of extension and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile shipbuilding project.

Tasks

As a Commissioning & Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating commissioning and testing activities, ensuring all systems and components of the ship meet the highest standards. Your expertise in ship construction and operational systems will ensure seamless project progression without extensive training, as familiarity with shipyard standards and ship layouts is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee commissioning and testing of various ship components to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate across fields, including electrical, hydraulic, piping, and “hotel commissioning” systems, to ensure that all subsystems meet project specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with shipyard teams to meet commissioning targets and address any system inconsistencies.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of commissioning outcomes.

Job requirements

  • Proven experience in ship commissioning and testing in fields such as electrical, hydraulic, or piping systems.
  • Familiarity with shipyard standards and basic ship construction; ability to work independently within ship layouts.
  • Educational background in marine engineering or similar, or practical experience such as a ship master’s certificate or previous role as a ship officer.
  • EU citizenship or a German Blue Card is mandatory.
  • Basic German language skills to navigate commands and shipyard communications; proficiency in English.
  • Strong affinity for the maritime industry with a hands-on approach.
