Specialist Shock and Noise

Your main responsibilities as Shock & Noise Specialist include:

• Engineering Phase:
  • Collaborating on the design aspects related to shock (from mines and torpedoes), underwater noise, sonar self-noise, and inboard noise.
  • Designing ship structures and system component mounting to meet these collective requirements, considering factors like own-frequencies, component displacements, accelerations, and flexible mountings.

• Proposal Phase:
  • Defining and negotiating pertinent requirements, standards, and norms.
  • Engaging in frequent communication with structural engineers, suppliers, and customers, in addition to performing design calculations.
• Production Phase:
  • Active involvement in conducting full-scale testing and validations on board to ensure compliance with established standards.
• R&D Support:
  • Contributing to Research and Development projects in this field, which may entail tasks like verifications, validations, software development, product enhancement, and process development.

To excel as a Shock & Noise Specialist, you should possess:

• EU citizenship and a permanent EU work visa are mandatory requirement due to the nature of client's projects
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Profound knowledge and practical experience in dealing with underwater shock, inboard- and underwater noise aboard ships.
• A demonstrated track record in designing flexible mountings and conducting inboard noise calculations.
• Familiarity with relevant software tools, including 6-DOF, FEMAP, ANSYS, and a solid grasp of international standards such as STANAG, IMO, and Class.
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
