(Senior) Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client in the naval shipbuilding industry. This role focuses on the design, integration, and optimization of marine systems, including propulsion, auxiliary, HVAC, piping, and fuel systems. You will collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-end naval projects.

Due to the nature of the projects, only EU citizens can be considered for this position.

Aufgaben

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and integration of marine systems for naval vessels. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and selecting feasible marine system configurations during the proposal phase.
  • Developing technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based on design, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performing technical evaluations of supplier quotations in coordination with the purchasing team.
  • Ensuring compliance with requirements during supplier discussions while managing quality, cost, and schedule constraints.
  • Reviewing and approving engineering documentation, including mechanical drawings, schematics, and calculations.
  • Working in multidisciplinary teams to optimize system integration.
  • Creating technical documentation, including system descriptions, installation procedures, and testing protocols (HAT & SAT).
  • Assessing technical performance through simulations, equipment inspections, and factory acceptance tests (FATs).
  • Providing on-site technical support during ship trials, harbor acceptance tests (HAT), and sea acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Anforderungen

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the maritime/naval industry or mechanical system design.
  • Strong knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, HVAC, piping, and fuel systems.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Cadmatic, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch proficiency is a plus).
  • Must be a permanent EU citizen.
