Department Manager

In your role of Department Manager, you are responsible for the capacity, competences, processes and tools, for the disciplines Naval & Technology. The department consists of 50 specialists for 28 different aspects, and you will support and manage the specialist's team priorities, process, quality and tools. You will work in close cooperation with the Project Manager, responsible for budget, quality and planning.

In addition:

• You are responsible for the daily management of the department and report to the General Manager Engineering
• You are the leader of the teams; you inspire and motivate them, while providing your technical experience and expertise
• You manage the resource planning and ensure that enough capabilities are provided by hiring, when necessary, new team members
• When needed, you organize temporary engineering capacity
• You are responsible for processes and software tools; this includes suggesting new ideas and ensuring process and work instructions are kept up to date
• You ensure a disciplined technical proposal review, including man hour estimation
• You cooperate with other disciplines and departments, and you support graduates and trainees within your department

The Department Manager needs to have:

• MSc or BSc in Naval Architecture (or other relevant technical field)
• Knowledge of design and engineering process and technology of naval ships
• Previous experience as Department Manager within an engineering environment
• Knowledge of English, Dutch is considered a strong advantage
• EU citizenship (NON EU profiles will not be considered)
